Obesity reduction in children throught awareness of NCD'S and group education (ORANGE)
Childhood obesity is a forerunner of obesity in adulthood which in turn has a strong association with NCDs such as type 2 Diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
The prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCD's) such as obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and hypertension is rapidly increasing in urban India.
There is an urgent need to prevent the emerging twin global epidemics of diabetes and obesity known as ‘diabesity’. Intervention at the childhood and adolescent periods would help reduce the morbidity associated with diabetes and obesity in India.
Project ORANGE has been conducted in schools in NOIDA and will reach out to school children between the ages of 6 and 19 years.
